I have to admit: balancing the responsibilities of a full-time employee, student, and marriage is not easy.
Despite being completely independent before getting married, life seems to be busier when you are married. Maybe it’s because you now have to clean up after a second person in the house. I swear life feels like an endless list of chores after getting married (haha). In the midst of doing chores, you also need to attend classes and complete homework assignments.
A typical day in my life looks like this:
- Work 8am to 5pm
- Attend an evening class. Luckily I only have two classes this semester (Monday and Tuesday evenings). If I don’t have class, I either come home and start on the next step or work on homework.
- Cook dinner and/or lunch for the next day. Although, my husband is kind enough to take care of this step most days.
- Tidy up whatever space needs tidying up in the apartment
- Go to bed
This may not look like a long to-do list, but somehow it always ends up being that I go to bed around midnight.
If you are looking to get married while you’re in school or if you’re thinking about going back to school, I’d definitely recommend speaking with your partner and asking him to help you out while you focus on your education. Without a supportive partner, you can start to become overwhelmed by everything on your to-do list and the tasks that must be completed on your own.
Being a wife and a student while also working a full-time job is definitely no easy feat; however, I wouldn’t trade the place I’m currently in for anything else. At the end of the day, it’s such a lovely feeling to come home to a partner who loves you and supports the path you are on.
